Noun:

 

 

A person, place, or thing.  Common nouns are general and proper nouns are specific.

 

Examples:

 

Common:   friend, city, or tissue

 

Proper:  Emily, Toronto, or Kleenex.  (Note: proper nouns start with a capital letter.)
